At present, the CCI Academic Environment consists of the following items as depicted in the image above:
- A pair of network firewalls, which separate the environement from the rest of the ODU network and the Internet.
- A "private" data center network without Internet connectivity. Servers involved in security-oriented labs should be placed on this network.
- A "private" wireless network with SSID "ODUCyber" (pre-shared key in image above) without Internet connectivity. The purpose of this network is both to allow wireless devices to participate in security-oriented labs with servers placed on the private data center network, and to support remote administration of servers places on both data center networks.
- An additional data center network with ODU and Internet connectivity. The network is only intended to facilitate server builds. Scans, probes, or attacks are strictly prohibited from this network.
- A desktop network providing Internet connectivity to student-managed desktops. Scans, probes, or attacks are strictly prohibited from this network.
- A data center honeypot network with one-way receive-only connectivity from the Internet.
Security policy implemented on the network firewall is shown in the image above.

The CCI Academic Data Center in Monarch Hall consists of 4 racks as shown above.
- Rack 1 is for ITS use only, and the equipment in it is not to be used or modified in any way.
- Racks 2-4 are for general purpose use. New equipment can be installed, and the pre-installed servers can be re-positioned as needed.
- An ITS-managed network switch is installed in the top of each rack, providing connectivity to the two data center networks, as described in the next section.

- Connectivity to the data center "private" and "Internet" networks is available via the switchports shown in the image above.
- Please note the switchport ranges that should not be used/disturbed.
